Burgess Falls State Park Winter 2025
Winter in Tennessee is, most of the time, very bleak and dreary, lacking the vibrant charm that can often characterize this season in other regions. Where most other states get to experience snowy weather consistently, here it’s a rare event it seems, almost an elusive treasure. However, whenever the weather finally does decide to produce some delightful snowy weather, I always try to seize the opportunity whenever I can.
Given how rough and unpredictable the roads can be during the winter months, whenever we see that snow is coming to stay for an extended period, we always try to prioritize safety above adventure and exploration. With this important consideration in mind, we make a conscious effort to limit our driving to destinations that are closer to home instead of venturing out to those that are farther away. This winter season, we decided to visit the beautiful Burgess Falls State Park, which promised both scenic views and a safer travel experience.

When we finally arrived at the park, we were genuinely shocked to discover that there were hardly any other visitors present at that time. This unusual occurrence turned out to be a wonderful blessing in disguise, as the snow was so fresh and pristine that there were hardly any footprints on a majority of the trails. Of course, as we continued our hike, more and more people gradually began to show up, but it was truly a nice and tranquil view while it lasted, allowing us to fully appreciate the serene stillness of the winter landscape.

Once we finally arrived at the breathtaking overlook, it turned out to be even more incredible than we had ever imagined it could be. The thick layer of snow blanketing the landscape enhanced the view of the massive waterfall, creating a scene that was truly something magical and unforgettable. To top off our visit, we also had the opportunity to take a break and make a little snowman. :)

We could definitely feel the weather starting to get a bit more rough, so we made the decision to go ahead and head on home before conditions deteriorated further. As we were leaving the area, we drove over a bridge that I thought would make for a really cool drone shot. The drone was struggling to maintain its stability while battling the gusty wind, and the snow was beginning to freeze over the sensors, so I had to land it pretty quickly to avoid any damage. However, amidst those challenging circumstances, I was able to snag one pretty decent photo that captured the essence of the moment.
It truly was a magical afternoon, and I am so excited for the next snow day where we can take more amazing winter shots.
